an found bruised bloodied and half clothed in a Wildwood NJ alley more than three years ago will be investigated as a homi cide not an accident New Jersey state Attorney General Robert Del Tufo said yesterday The development in the case of Susan death comes after persistent efforts by the father Kent Ne gersmith and a review by nation ally known pathologist Dr Mi chael Baden am encouraged that the state of New Jersey is finally acknowledging that my daughter Susan was beaten raped and Kent Negersmith said in a prepared statement death was not an acci dent We want the death certifi cate changed to reflect that he said body was found in an alley behind a restaurant on Memorial Day weekend in 1990 Negersmith a graduate of Carmel High School and a li censed cQsmetologist and six friends went to Wildwood to cele brate the end of the school year She was studying marketing at the time of her death An assistant state medical ex aminer ruled she had died from drinking too much alcohol and Cape May County authorities closed the case The state Division of Criminal Justice began an independent review in April 1991 that has included interviews polygraph and DNA tests and re view of the body Del Tufo said Baden deter mined that Negersmith had been sexually assaulted and strangled in the alley and that her body had been moved so it would not be easily seen Several factors continue to complicate the case including extremely drunken state at the time of her death and evidence she fell and broke a tooth before her death authori ties said Tests after her death revealed a blood alcohol level of 0285 percent in her brain Kent Negersmith started ask ing questions after the local au thorities labeled her death acci dental He talked to a witness who said he saw the woman at 2:15 am and that her eyes were puffy and red from crying yet saw no cuts and bruises daughter Ne gersmith said was strong about that sort of A news release from Del Tu fa's office said several people have said retired postal worker Lennart Thurston Johnson a retired postal worker and a life long Mamaroneck town resident died at his home Thursday He was 74 He was born April 17 1919 to rank and Emma Antonson Johnson in Mamaroneck where he attended schools and graduat ed from Mamaroneck High School He was an US Army veteran of World War II who served in rance Mr Johnson delivered mail for the Larchmont post office for 38 years 33 of them on a route that encompassed Valley Road Glenn Road and North Chatsworth Av enue He retired in 1981 He had been a member and former chief of the town of Ma maroneck Volunteer ire De partment Mr Johnson is survived by a sister Eleanor Johnson of Ma maroneck and a niece Judy Smith of Larchmont A brother rank Johnson died in 1963 The John ox uneral Home in Larchmont is handling the arrangements David Peterman: sales representative David Peterman a sales representative died of cancer Wednesday at his home in East Brookfield Mass He was 43 He was born Oct 17 1949 in Brockton Mass to Charles and Dorothy Gordon Peter man Mr Peterman grew up in Chappaqua and graduated from Horace Greeley High School He also was a graduate of the Uni versity of Maine He was a sales representative for Wholesale Club in Chicopee Mass until the time of his death Earlier he worked for Linden Bakery in White Plains Mr Peterman had been a resi dent of East Brookfield since 1981 Earlier he lived in Chap paqua On Aug 7 1981 Mr Peterman married Wendy Larson He was a member of the Heri tage Country Club in Charlton Mass In addition to his parents of Venice la and his wife Mr Peterman is survived by a son Matthew Peterman of the home address a brother Ralph Peter man of Putnam Valley and a sister Diana Peterman of Wash ington DC Henri Morin Son Inc in Spencer Mass is loose again Police sheriffs deputies and state Department of Envi ronmental Conservation ofifi cers were notified Thursday of the disappearance of Susie a 23 year old Himalayan bear with no teeth and no claws Police pursued the animal but were unable to catch her on her 26 acres off Ludingtonville Road The bear was still missing yester day morning Popolizio a former circus 'r performer bought the animal as a cub and used her in his her across the driveway from the site where his house burned on May 18 Popolizio now lives in a motor home there Lost in the fire were pic tures he kept of him kissing Susie and walking her on a leash He said she used to ride a bike and roller skate until he stopped performing with her about 13 years ago A DEC officer in New Paltz said Popolizio has a permit 1958 Mr Keels had worked at the GM plant in North Tarrytown first as an assembly line worker and later in a vari ety of jobs including stock or ganizer and forklift operator He was born Aug 27 1931 to James and Ethel Nelson Keels in Sumter SC He grew up in South Carolina and moved to Tarrytown in 1957 On May 26 1962 he married Mahalia Miller in Tarrytown they moved to Ossining their marriage In Harrison She died in 1969 Mr DelDuca was a member of Local 543 of the Carpenters union in Mamaroneck or many years he worked at East Coast Wholesale Lumber in Mamaro neck which is now closed He was a
