Administration to conduct the first clinical trial of Laetrile on cancer patients government sources said today The DA still considers Laetrile worthless in treat ing cancer but the institute has convinced the drug agency that the study on 200 to 300 humans will yield meaningful results and be conducted ethically said the sources who asked not to be identified Before the trial begins the DA changes has been particulary strong in Westchester where state and local officials have sought a high degree of community partiepation in the group home program Support for the more limited committee role has come from some agencies in the state which see the committees as an unnecessary hindrance to the opera tion of the homes The decision on the rules is to be made by the commissioner of the state Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Dr Edgar lint head of the Ardsley group home advisory committee is one of those making the case for a continuing role for the
