day at her home in Hartsdale She was 77 The cause of death was not disclosed Mrs Brown was active with the Alecto Court 71 of New York for the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America serving for many years as publicity chairwoman and as an officer She also served as director of the Yorker Clown Unit and was a member of the Royal Order of the Jesterettes Both groups performed in clown costume for crippled children and shut ins and raised money for hospitals She was also a member of Marsdale Chapter 8760 of the Or der of the Eastern Star Mrs Brown was born June 20 1911 in the Crestwood section of Yonkers to George and Alice Pease Steinreich She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers and the Hakes Business School in White Plains She married LeRoy Brown on Oct 7 1939 in Crestwood With her husband she was an active member of St John's Church in Tuckahoe She recently served as a member of the bicen tennial committee In addition to her husbandj Mrs Brown is survived by a sister
