home He was 85 1 Mr Hutta was born Dec 3 in what became Czechoslo 'vakia to Lawrence and Mary7 Hutta He moved to the United States as a child He grew up in the Mount Pleasant area and was educated in Westchester County schools lived in Tarrytown 12 years'before moving to Briarcliff Man or in 1958 Mr Hutta was a US Army staff sergeant during World War II and received a Bronze Star for bravery In 1937 he married Lovina Brower at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Tarrytown Mr Hutta worked as a tree surgeon at Jenner Tree Experts in Elmsford for 30 years retiring in 1980 or several years Mr Hutta was a member of the Archville Volunteer ire Department in Mount Pleasant He also was a parishioner at Holy Cross Church in North Tar rytown He is survived by his wife of Briarcliff Manor a daughter Linda Bonito of Briarcliff Manor a son Lawrence Jr of Mohe gan Lake and three grand children Arrangements are by Dwyer uneral Home in Tarrytown Michael Shubert: World War II veteran Michael Shubert a longtime Peekskill resident and a World War II veteran died Saturday at Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Castle Point in Dutchess County He was 66 Mr Shubert was an employeeof ranklin Delano Roosevelt Veterans Affairs Hospital Center in Montrose for 20 years before retiring in 1991 He was born Aug 7 1927 in Verplanck to Michael and Cathe rine Burress Shubert and at tended Verplanck and Peekskill schools He served in the US Navy during World War II and was active in several service organi zations He was a member and a past assistant commander of the American Legion post in Mon trose and was a past quartermas ter of the Veterans of oreign Wars post in Garrison Mr Shubert was a charter member of the Buchanan ire Department Survivors include three broth ers Donald of Montrose Richard of Hopewell Junction and Randy of Valatie NY and two sisters Catherine Gilbon of Peekskill and Janet Boyle of Buchanan His wife Helen and a sister Geraldine Shubert died earlier Arrangements are by Edward Carter uneral Home in Mon trose Jetta Themans: interior designer Jetta Themans a retired inte rior designer died Saturday at New Rochelle Hospital Medical Center She was 88 Mrs Themans was born June 6 1905 in Latvia She lived in Sweden as a child then moved to the United States settling in Larchmont 57 years ago She was educated in schools in Sweden She also graduated from Parsons School of Design in Manhattan where she studied interior de sign than 32 years ago she married Dorus Themans who died in 1988 She was a self employed inte rior designer for 30 years before retiring around 1975 Mrs Themans was active in several flower clubs and won many awards for her flower ar rangements She joined the Gar den Club of Larchmont in 1947 and held various offices includ ing secretary and chair man She received the 20th Year Service Honor Citation and the Acclamation Awards from the 9th District ederated Garden Clubs of New York State Inc of which she also was a member She also was a member of the Ikebana Society of Westchester a flower club and was a National Council Master lower Show judge emeritus Mrs Themans was a parishio ner at Larchmont Avenue Pres byterian was 74 He was born June 20 1919 in North Tarrytown to Thomas and Ida Brown Connors He attended St Teresa of Avila School in North Tarrytown Mr Connors was a truck driver for Gordon Produce in Ossining for 35 years Later he was a stock worker for several supermarkets in Westchester County He retired in 1974 He was a member of St Tere sa of Avila Church in North Tar rytown He was a past member of the Ossining Moose Lodge Mr Connors married Elizabeth Zerrilla on May 20 1940 in Os sining In addition to his wife he is Augustus Springs Jr: Augustus Springs Jr a longtime Mount Vernon resident died Thursday at Mount Vernon Hospital He was 71 Mr Springs was born May 29 1922 to Augustus and Ludie Ed wards Springs in Chester SC In 1927 he moved to Mount Vernon where he attended school He graduated from AB Davis High School in 1942 Mr Springs was a car primer retired autoworker in the isher Body Chevy divi sion at General Motors Corp in North Tarrytown for 32 years until he retired in 1983 He was a member of the United Auto Workers In addition to his mother of Mount Vernon Mr Springs is survived by two sons Bernard Moore of Mount Vernon and Gre gory Barber of the Bronx a daughter Kathleen Moore Abel of Roosevelt Long Island a Violet Topf: practical nurse Violet Topf a Carmel resi dent who lived for many years in Mahopac died yesterday at Northern Westchester Hospital Center in Mount Kisco She was 58 She was born Sept 6 1935 in the Bronx to Crofton and Eliza beth Hoeymanns Snow Mrs Topf was educated in New York City She was a li censed practical nurse and worked at Northern Westchester Hospital Center in the mid 1970s She lived in Mahopac from 1968 to 1981 and then in York town before moving to Carmel less than a year ago She is survived by one son John of Mahopac three daugh Eva Soares: community activist Eva Soares a Mamaroneck community activist died of com plications from heart disease Saturday at Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla She was 67 Mrs Soares was born Aug 8 1926 in New Bedford Mass to Carlos and Eugenia Perreira Soares She was educated in New Bedford schools She moved to Mamaroneck in 1950 and had lived in White Plains since 1975 Mrs Soares was well known in Mamaroneck town and village or more than 20 years she worked at the Greater Mamaro neck Community Action Pro gram a community center The past 10 years she also worked with the Mamaroneck village se nior citizens program She received several procla mations and honors from Ma maroneck town and village for her work with teen agers and senior citizens She retired in 1992 but continued to volunteer with the senior citizens program Mrs Soares was a parishioner Patricia West: teaching assistant Patricia A West of Mahopac died Saturday at Danbury (Conn) Hospital following a brief illness She was 46 She was born Jan 27 1948 in the Bronx to John and Ann Smith ahey She was educated in New York City schools and graduated the Academy of Mount St Ursula and the Grace
