She served with distinction at the Bronx VA, where her compassionate care and unwavering support for veterans earned her the respect of both colleagues and patients. She returned to school to graduate with a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from Hunter College, a testament to her dedication to her profession. Her commitment to nurturing the next generation of nurses led her to a fulfilling role as a nurse educator at Bronx Community College, where she shaped the minds and hearts of students with her wisdom and experience. Throughout her life, Naomi found joy and solace in her many interests. She was an avid reader, with The New York Times being her daily source of news and enlightenment. Weekends would often find her immersed in the challenge of The New York Times Sunday puzzle, a ritual that brought her immense pleasure and satisfaction. Naomi's love for travel took her to many places around the world, both for work and leisure, allowing her to experience diverse cultures and make lasting memories. Naomi's kind and intelligent nature was the cornerstone of her relationships. She was a beloved mother to her son, Paul Clayton, and a cherished mother-in-law to Susanna Mendoza-Clayton. Her influence extended to her nephew, Douglas Gaither, and her great-nephew, Brent Gaither (wife Angela Gaither and daughter Christina Gaither) who looked up to her as a role model of integrity and compassion; she also leaves a nephew, Al Brodie III, and his son, Eric Brodie. Naomi was predeceased by her brother, Edward Roberts, and her sister, Edna Brodie, both of whom shared in the rich tapestry of her life. She also carried the memory of her niece, Renee Gaither, holding her close in her heart. Naomi's legacy is one of unwavering kindness, intelligence, and passion for her calling.
