DRUG ARRESTS North Tarrytown police ar rested two youths on charges of possession of drugs at 100 College Ave North Tarrytown Roland Leroy Scott 23 and Johnnie Lee Arm strong 23 both of 50 White St in of a 27 year old Ossining man early Saturday morning Laverne Edwards of 64 State St was arrested by Ossining village police on charges of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle at about 1 am Saturday Village police were called to a State Street rooming house when the owner Lee aulkner com plained that there was an unwanted party living in a first floor room The tenant Edwards had not paid his rent aulkner told police When Sgt William Sullivan and Patrolman Jerry Underwood went to the rear entrance of the house Sgt Sullivap reported he glanced through a 4 inch opening between a window shade and the rear door frame and allegedly saw a hypodermic needle held by Edward in his left hand Edwards was reported to be sitting on the bed withanother man who was not charged Sgt Sullivan reported that he knocked on the door the room and identified himself and Ptl Underwood as police officers Edwards then placed the hypodermic needle into a cigar box which was on the bed and tried to hide the box under the bed Sgt Sullivan said As he entered the room Sgt Sullivan said he saw narcotic paraphernalia and what he believed was cocaine He said he then retrieved the cigar box from under the bed and discovered 10 hypodermic needles and syringes inside it Other needles and syringes were found about the room he added as well as some pills Edwards was placed in the lockup Saturday morn ing and released later that day pending arraignment The drugs and paraphenalia were tagged and turned over to the detective division police
