Eugene E. Lewis, 86, Bradenton, died Oct 2, 2014.

Survived by wife, Charlotte & daughter, Gina (Sis) Kreis.

Shaindell ''Shain'' Frances Davis, of Sarasota FL, passed away on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014. she was 82. Devoted wife to late husband, Martin Davis, loving mother of Steven, Pam, and Amy, beloved grandmother of Willie, Harrison, James, and April. Born in Elizabeth, NJ on November 29th, 1931. Shain was the only child born to Benjamin and Pearl Grossman.

She was very proud to tell people about her early claim to fame as a child star of a popular Yiddish theater troupe. Her stage name was "Shaindella Das Wunderkind". She later went on to earn her BA from Rutgers University and her MA in Education from Hofstra University. Shain devoted her life to education and taught science at Locust Valley High School and subsequently served as a substitute teacher at Cold Spring Harbor High School.

An avid tennis player, Shain enjoyed her time on the courts while a resident of Lloyd Harbor, NY and Pelican Cove in Sarasota. She spent her final years in the loving home of her daughter, Pamela Ramhofer. Shaindell touched lives of many and was a joyful presence to her family. She will be dearly missed.

Mary Steponik, 93, of Bradenton, Florida passed away on September 30, 2014. Born October 8, 1920, daughter of the late Stanley and Vera Miles.

She was predeceased by husband, Joseph and brother, Frank Miles. She was a former member of Greenwich Women's Golf Club and Bruce Women's Golf Club of Greenwich, Connecticut and Manatee Ladies Golf League of Bradenton, FL.

Mary worked for the town of Greenwich for twenty five years as Acoounts Payable Supervisor.

Survivors are sister, Jenny Fullilove of Greenwich, CT; three nieces, Christine McBride of Newnan, GA, Patricia Ann Cooner of Taylors, SC and Patricia Ann Fox of Spotsylvania, VA.

She lived in Bradenton, FL since 1985 and was a member of Manatee Golf Course and River Run Golf Links of Bradenton, FL. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church of Sarasota, FL.

Francis Joseph Monica, Sr., age 97, of Bradenton, FL passed away Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Blake Medical Center. He was born in New York City on March 19, 1917, the eldest son of Joseph Monica and Margaret Morgan-Monica.

He married Anna Marie Brady-Monica on August 21, 1938, and they remained together until her passing in 2010.

Before retiring in Florida Mr. Monica enjoyed a highly successful hotel career and was associated with such renowned properties as New York’s Essex House, Number One Fifth Avenue, Hotel Suburban and the Molly Pitcher Inn. His guest lists included some of the most important personalities of the era including the Duke and duch*ess of Windsor (King Edward), Edna St. Vincent Millay, Bob Hope, Marilyn Monroe and many more.

In 1976 he was named Restaurateur of the Year by the prestigious culinary organization, the International Geneva Association. Frank was a long-term parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Bradenton where he served as an usher for many years. He is remembered by his loving family and friends for his high energy, gregarious nature and charm.

He was the oldest of 10 children, survived by four sisters, Geri, Theresa, Pat and Marie. Other survivors include two sons, Robert T. Monica of Bradenton, FL, and Frank J. Monica, Jr. of Aiken, SC, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

James T. Ross, III, (Jim, ''D''), 87, of Bradenton, FL passed away Monday, September 29, 2014. Jim was born March 28, 1927 in Tampa, FL. He joined the Navy at age 17 and became a Pharmacist Corpsman 3rd Class. Jim worked for 32 years on the Miami Dade County Sheriff’s Department and retired in 1989 as Captain to a home in Cashiers, NC and Bradenton, FL.

He was an active member of his church, cherished his wife of almost 60 years, loved his family dearly, and touched everyone he met. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Harvey Ross.

He is survived by his son, James T. Ross, IV and his wife, Connie of Ft. Worth Texas; his daughter, Janice R. Pearmain and her husband, Douglas of Carmel, IN; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his brother, Ben L. Ross and his wife, Chris; his brother, John S. Ross and his wife, Linda, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Joan Snapp Eason, 78, Bradenton, died September 29, 2014. Born in Bronx, New York she moved Parrish in 1940.

Survived by son, Tim (Pamela) Eason of Palmetto, FL; daughter, Tammy (Dan) Hager of Bradenton, FL; brothers, Donald Snapp of Bradenton, FL and John Snapp of Ashford, WA; sister, Phyllis (Melvin) Johns of Venice, FL; grandchildren, Kristina, Ryan, James and Lindsey; great grandchild, Ryder.

Gene A. Hunt, 85, Holmes Beach, died September 28, 2014. Born in Falconer, New York, he moved to Manatee County in 1958. A Veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War, he worked for and retired from Manatee County Extension Service in Maintenance, he was a member of American Legion Kirby Stewart Post 24 and he attended Roser Community Church.

Lael B. Taplin, 87, Bradenton, died September 25, 2014. Born in Blackwell, Oklahoma, he wintered in Bradenton since 1990 then became a permanent resident in 2002, from Suburban Detroit, Michigan.

He was a Veteran of the US Army during World War II and he was an Episcopalian.

Survived by sons, Alan of Maumee, OH and Keith of Carmel, NY; daughters, Barbara LaRowe of Wheaton, IL and Nancy Ciolek of Naperville, IL; sister, LaQuita Headley of St. Cloud, FL; 8 grandchildren. Patricia Julia Ritchlin, 85, was called home to our heavenly Father on Thursday September 25th, 2014.

She is predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Francis B. Ritchlin. Patricia was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and later moved to Rochester, New York where she was married and raised her family of four loving children, before moving to Sarasota, Florida in 1993.

Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker and was devoutly committed to her Roman Catholic faith. In her later years, Patricia gleefully enjoyed the company and shared adventures of her family whom she so thoroughly loved. Her great love of shopping, all things sparkling, and her well acknowledged sweet tooth, were only surpassed by her passionate love of the Lord, her family, and the life she was privileged to lead in America.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ryder, and her husband, Raymond, her daughter Susan Scorza and her husband John, her son James Ritchlin, her son Michael Ritchlin and his wife Deborah, her granddaughters Amanda Ritchlin, Christine Ritchlin, Jessica Ritchlin, Samantha Ritchlin Anderson and her husband, Michael, her great grandson, Mason Anderson, her brother James McNally and his wife Dorothy, her brother Lowell McNally and his wife, Billie, her closest and dearest lifelong friends Nancy and Jack Case, in addition to her many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, all of whom will miss her tremendously.

A celebration of life Mass will be held for Patricia at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church in Sarasota, Florida on Friday October 3rd, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America in Patricia's memory at http://www.pva.org.
