rederick Saunders III a longtime Brewster resident formerly of Pawling NY died Monday Nov 18 1996 at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel He was 50 Mr Saunders an Air orce veter an who served in the early 1960s was a serviceman and installer for Suburban Propane in Brewster for the past 25 years He was bom Dec 11 1945 in Kingsbury NY to rederick and Theoriah McKinney Saunders II He graduated from Pawling High School Mr Savelson began his career in journalism working as a copyboy in New York City At the time noted reporter Heywood Broun gave him the nickname which stuck for life In 1930 he became the telegraph editor for The Daily Argus in Mount Vernon rom 1933 to 1935 he worked as city editor for the Argus and later as an editor for The Herald Statesman in Yonkers He joined the Associated Press in 1940 Mr Savelson served in the early 1950s as a special assistant to New York State Attorney General Natha nial Goldstein He handled public affairs during the first widespread investigation of drug use by school children in New York state Mr Savelson was bom in Man hattan on April 18 1907 to Barnett and Anna Savelson He grew up in Manhattan and attended the public schools He studied journalism at Columbia University In 1932 he married Elinor Ska letsky in Mount Vernon In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons Robert of Scarsdale and Donald of Manhattan and 11 and taught clarinet flute and saxophone He had taught music in the Pelham schools for some years and at the Westchester County Summer Music Cairip He was bom in Long Branch NJ on July 7 1940 to George and Rosemary Costello Carpenter The family moved to Irvington where he grew up and was educated He was a graduate of Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains and attended the Manhattan School of Angelo lezzi Sr a Mahopac resident and carpenter died Monday Nov 18 1996 in Liber ty NY He was 57 Mr lezzi was a carpenter for New York City Health and Hos pital Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx He
