6 A Thursday August 21 1997 TRRDPOSPK Obituaries Eleanor Kleine 83: Yonkers Republican Party chief Marie Davis 77: retired domestic worker Marie Davis a retired domes years in Mount Vernon Eleanor Kleine the first wom an ever chosen to head Republican City Committee and ft MB Eleanor Kleine a longtime GOP support who worked for three state senators died Tuesday Aug 19 1997 at St River side Hospital in Yonkers She was 83 and a lifelong Yonkers resi dent Mrs Kleine who was popular ly known as Ellie was elected chairwoman of the Yonkers Re publican Party in 1995 after serv ing many years as vice chair Her election came well into a heated mayoral campaign in the city as Mrs Kleine worked to ensure Mayor John election Spencer described Kleine as loyal leader in the Republican Party who stood by me in a difficult time when I was running for mayor She displayed a loyal ty and a friendship that never Party members and Republi can officeholders remembered Mrs Kleine yesterday for her fierce dedication to the politics to which she dedicated her life Her dedication to old time party protocol also put her at odds with more recent rising stars within the GOP ranks but her followers say that tenacity also served people well when needed one had influenced me more politically than Ellie said state Sen Nicholas Spano one of the three Republi can senators Mrs Kleine worked for as executive secretary or community representative had characteristics that are rare a district leader and 6th Ward leader also grew to become in fluential in politics at a time when it was less fashionable for women to enter that fray In addition to Spano Mrs Kleine also worked for former state Sen William Condon and former state Sen John lynn in a career that spanned 50 years Kleine was a very dedi cated lynn said yester 't day only to her family but to the community and political life of this county She was a real devoted person to the city of Yonkers and the political atmo sphere of the state of New Vincenza Restiano City Council president said Mrs Kleine possessed a political acu men matched by few tic worker died of cancer Mon A kind and considerate woman day Aug 18 1997 at her Mount Vernon home She was 77 and had lived in the city for more than 60 years Miss Davis was a domes tic worker for more than 45 years She was with many friends Miss Davis was always willing to help some one in time of need her family said She is survived by a daughter Linda Lovelace of Mount Ver non two sons Carl Davis of Las Vegas and Gerald Davis of Mon trose two sisters Elsie Davis and Martha Shorts both of Charles Town 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren A sister Viola Patterson died Marie Davis bora Sept 13 1919 in Charles Town Va to James and Annie Dotson Davis She attended you got to know her you hoped you could have that astute political quality She knew if you were going to win she knew if you were going to Mrs Kleine was born June 6 1914 to Joseph and Josephine Sheridan McDermott and was educated in Yonkers schools She was married Dec 2 1943 to William Kleine at Church of the Immaculate Conception (St in Yonkers He died in 1986 Mrs Kleine was a member of Church of Christ the King in Yonkers She is survived by a daughter Eleanor A Warren of Hopewell Junction a brother Joseph Mc Dermott of Yonkers and a granddaughter A brother John McDermott died earlier William Nathan Mebane a life long resident of Greenburgh died Monday Aug 18 1997 at his home He was 38 The cause of death was compli cations from lupus and kidney failure his family said Mr Mebane was a ground skeeper at a country club in Rye Brook from 1993 to 1995 Pre viously he was a restaurant cook in Elmsford He was born June 23 1959 in Valhalla to Allen and rances Thomas Mebane He attended Greenburgh public schools and Valhalla High School Mr Mebane served in the Army for two years receiving an honorable discharge in 1979 He was baptized as a member of the irst Community Baptist Church in White Plains but worshiped most recently at the Strait Gate Church in Mamaro neck where he was a member of the usher board Mr Mebane is survived by his parents four brothers Timothy Anthony and Peter all of Green burgh and Stephen of Rochester NY a sister Kathleen Mebane of Greenburgh three nephews two nieces and several cousins A brother John died in 1995 Visitation is today at politics When she was a friend she was a friend to the end And she was Spano noted that Mrs Kleine Martin Limmer a longtime White Plains resident died Wed nesday Aug 20 1997 at the White Plains Center for Nursing He was 90 Mr Limmer had lived in White Plains for 65 years where he owned and operated the Chan tecler rench Bakery from 1952 to 1978 He was a confectioner at other bakeries in the area before opening his own business Mr Limmer was a member of Elks Lodge 535 in White Plains He was twice elected the exalted ruler of the Elks and once was named Elk of the Year He was born Nov 11 1906 in Saal Germany to Georg and Maria isher Limmer and moved Home 168 Park Ave Yonkers A funeral service will be held at 10 am today at Church of Christ the King 740 Broadway He married Anna Zwanziger on July 22 1931 in Brooklyn Mr Limmer is survived by his wife a son Martin of Ossining a daughter Rosemarie I Tinkler of Clinton NY four grand children and three great grand children A sister and brother died ear lier Visitation will be tomorrow at Ballard Durand uneral Home in White Plains where the funer al service is scheduled for 2 pm tomorrow Burial will take place in White Plains Rural Cemetery Greenwich Conn She was 87 She was born March 24 1910 to Concetta DeLorenzo and Vin cent urci in Sao Paulo Brazil She attended Port Chester schools Mrs Habbas lived in Port Chester for 83 years before mov ing to Greenwich two years ago Mrs Habbas was a former free lance seamstress She was a member of the Port Chester Se nior Citizens Her greatest joy was her family family members said She is
