GEBHART FUNERAL HOMES of New Castle County Dale Frank Bray 1922-2001 Age 79 of Newark, DE, died Friday, October 26, 2001 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home.

Dale Frank Bray was bom in Ml March 2, 1922. He graduated from Northville High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree in forestry and an Master of Science degree in entomology from Michigan State University, and earned a PhD in entomology from Rutgers University. Dr. Bray served in the medical corps during World War II in the South Pacific. He met his wife, Polly at Michigan State University, and they were wed in 1947.

Dr. Bray was chairman of the Entomology-Ecology department at the University of Delaware. He was active in the Delaware Pest Control Association, being one of its founders. He was a deacon in the Presbyterian Church, an official in the World Sheep Dog trials and a judge for the Delaware Sports Club. Dale and Polly have 2 children of whom he was very proud.

Jane Bray Yacoe, an actress primarily on the West coast, and her husband, Paul live in Coatesville, PA with their 2 children, Jesse Paul and Rosalind. Their son, James Dale Bray, DPM and his wife, Jo live in Newark, where he practices po-diatric medicine ana surgery. In 1991, Dale and Polly left Newark and moved to their cabin in northern PA. In looking back over his life, they accomplished much and truly enjoyed life. Travel, hiking, gardening, reading and music took much of their time.

Professional accomplishments included Phi Kappa Phi (Emeritus Life Member), Sigma XI National Science Honorary, XI Sigma Pi National Forestry Honorary, and Alpha Zeta National Agricultural Honorary. He is listed in Who's Who in America, American Man of Science and the Outstanding Educator of America. His private insect collection is housed in the Smithsonian Institute, and includes 3 insects he discovered that were also named after him. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, November 29th at the Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church in Newark, where visitation with the family will follow the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

A lifetime resident of DE. Mr. Chadick was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked as the parts manager for Matt Slap Subaru. His favorite pastime was motorcycle enduro racing.

One would find him racing through the woods every chance he had. He also was an avid hunter. He was a 1982 graduate of Brandywine High School, a 1986 graduate of the University of elaware, where he earned a degree in criminal justice, and a 1988 graduate of the Wilmington Police Academy. His hobbies included physical fitness, hunting, fishing and home improvement. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Delaware Association of Police and St. Elizabeth's Church. Chris was a beloved husband and father, and was dedicated to his family.

She is sur vived by her husband, Robert Joyner; 4 chil dren, Lavette, Shawn, Donald and Antonio Brown, all of Wilmington; 1 sister, Ernestine Henderson; 5 brothers, Calvin, Norman, Robert, Marion and Steven Brown, all of Wilmington; 7 grandchildren; 3 devoted nieces, Cherita, Kim and Neta Brown; 1 daughter-in-law; 1 uncle; 5 aunts; 4 half-sisters 2 half brothers; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Sister of the late Daisey Tate and Helen Brown.

The service will be 12 noon Wednesday, October 31 at the St. Paul UAME Church, 3114 N. Market St, Wilmington, where friends may call 10-12. There will be an Elk Ritual at 10:45. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
