Today, Jakob Diemer and I went to the Maritime DTU & ShippingLab career day to represent Svitzer ⚓️!To be honest, I am exhausted 🥱… but in 3 hours I talked to so many students keen to work within the maritime industry and decarbonisation/sustainability that it makes be realize how lucky I am to seat where I am.To all the students that we talk to - thanks for coming to see us and showing interest. To all the one I did not… it’s not too late - feel free to reach out, we have more than “99 problems” so if you want to help solving the biggest challenge of our time in a company that really care, that has real targets 🎯 and where we have fun - “Hit me!”

Tomorrow, after 15 years in the woulnderful kingdom of Danmark 🇩🇰, I will become a danish citizen and that makes me deeply proud! But even after so many years there is still something I cannot explain - the love of Danish citizens for their royal family. In a time where: -our kids are asked to work to 72 years old (only one of my grand parents passed that age), ☠️-where there is not enough space in daycare, 👼🏻-that we cut university years to avoid to pay SU to students, 👩🎓-that nurses are being layed-off due to budget cuts in the regions, 👩🏼⚕️-in a country where the income tax level is one of the highest in the world but still common transport is extremely expensive 🚞- where green electricity is so cheap but people are still struggling to pay their bills as the government afgift can represent 90% of the price per kWh⚡️- we cut a national holiday to cover the additional cost of «freedom» by paying 2% of our GDP to NATO 🇺🇳Can we seriously really afford to increase the income of the Royals with 17 millions DKK?When it is already 128 millions per year 🤯Is it what the people have really voted for?I could think of 17millions better way to use that money 😢https://lnkd.in/dMAiG_RF

Amazing to see that at different level of the supply-chain we all face the same problems... Solutions are there to decarbonise, but cost, availability in operating areas and regulations to implement are the main roadblocks for many, which limit progress and delay the transition.the EU ETS, EU CSRD, Fuel EU, IMO targets and other upcoming rules are all supporting to set a more balanced playing field and allow front runners to decarbonise even faster! There is a lot to do, but if we all have the same problems, we will find the best solutions together...#decarbonisewithcustomer #svitzer #netzerotransition

I am so happy to announce that as of 1st January 2024… I am still the decarbonisation Program Manager at Svitzer !We have had a great run in 2023, our ambitions are unchanged and it is a very cool business with awesome people.Unfortunately we can see that the market conditions and governamental support is still not there, but the focus from customers and ports is definitely moving and therefore we will continue to develop solutions in-house or in collaboration with selected partners to design the future of sustainable towage services. My resolutions for 2024:1/ Continue to increase awareness every way I can, as when everyone does a little it makes a massive change!2/ Keep myself on top of the game, by reading more, connecting more and learning more.3/ Go back to working full time, after more than 2 years on a 90% agreement and a 6 months parental leave 😅, to hopefully have an even greater impact!

🎶”Sea, Decarb & Fun…”🎶Just back from a trip to Dubai & Oman, where we spent 3 days talking about decarbonisation in general and at Svitzer, experience the professionalism of our team at Port Sohar and caught up with remote team members and old acquaintances! Our regional decarb lead, Hassan Darwish in AMEA is doing a fantastic job and all from the management team to the crews onboard our vessels are very engaged and eager to drive the sustainability agenda in the region. It is amazing to see how motivated and how quickly everyone gets onboard, how many have already very good understanding of what we do and how much everyone wants to contribute.Special thanks to Deniz Kirdar True , Cedric Guiraud , Hassan Darwish and Ahmad Hamdy to support in the planning of the trip, the welcome to the office and to ensure the team was prioritizing our sessions during the visit….And to make us try Camel meat 🙏🏻 it was delicious 😋 !

While the maritime world has had focus on The Laura Mærsk over the last week, being the first Methanol container vessel in the world, i still think too many are unaware of what we are doing at Svitzer!70 of our tugs are powered by 2nd generation Biofuel! We are in the final design phase of the first Methanol fuel cell hybrid tug. Which will enter operation in late 2025 and compare to the Laura Mærsk Will not carry any diesel. We are continously expanding our solar panel coverage to cover the electrical use of our offices and tugs when tied up and on shore power. We have improved our CO2 emission efficiency by 18% compared to 2020 by the introduction of Biofuel and use of digital tool to monitor and become smarter on how we mobilise to and from jobs.We are working closely with main engine manufacturer to find retrofit solutions to our existing fleet while developing new technology for the use of future fuels. We will soon get the delivery of the first transverse Tug which will revolutionize the way we perform towage with reduction up to 40% during specific operations.A lot to be proud of being in the Maersk Group, but in my view as much if not more to work for Svitzer!

I just returned from a roadtrip through France, my first with an electrical car... and here are some learnings for you who are planning to change car and still have hesitation for electric, thinking:"yeah but the battery does not hold!""there are not enough chargers and I don't want to have to wait..."The facts:-5900km driven : mostly highways (just the return 1700km with average speed 101km/h)-average consumption 22,1Kwh/100km-4 suitcases, 2 prams, a child bike, a baby travel bed and 4 passengers (2 under 3years old)-average temperature 27 degrees-cost of recharge : between 0,79Eur/Kwh - 0Eur/KwhOverall it went much better than I ever anticipated, there are basically recharging station EVERYWHERE, even in the smallest villages and on almost all gas stations on the highways in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and France; and many supermarket have some charging stations available (fast charging too or free 22Kwh if you sign up to their free reward system).definitely consumed above my usual average due to the aircon running at all time, the weight of the cargo and the speed as mostly on the highway. it is now possible to select hotels on Booking.com which have EV charger and in 3 occasions it was totally free!!!On the highway, you can basically manage with 2-3 apps for the major players and here is my evaluation:TOP 1 - IONITY - super smooth app, with direct connection to Apple Pay, I was connected and recharging within seconds + the recharging speed average was always way over 100KwhIt has been definitely my TO GO charging spot to ensure a smooth and quick charge (only used Ionity on my way back with 8 stops in total , so thanks for a great setup)Main disadvantage is the price... more expensive than the competition, which I would really be carefull about as some players like Electra are growing and providing awesome app support and possibility to book a charger at much lower cost!Recommendation for people who enjoy your brand - allow to draw a route on your app to set all the stops to your destinations, I had to build my own using google maps and your app in parallel.TOP 2- Fastned - really good too with strong presence in The Netherlands.around 0,10Eur/kwh cheaper than IONITY for a like to like service, but the presence is less strong yet TOP 3 - TotalEnergies - they start to be everywhere, BUT the app suck and the recharge were often much slower than the capacity announced.cheaper than most on the highway, but again Tim to recharge longer and I have had many issues with the app. you also need to have the car Locked while recharging, so if you forgot a drink, a diaper or your wallet, the charger will stop and you have to Strat all over again :(Outside highways, is more of a jungle as every city, department, regions have their own thing, but the app SMOOV was helpful , mostly to use the Allego chargers available in almost all Carrefour parking lots.Hope this help you, help the world to #decarbonize
